My grandpa and I

One of Jackson's favorite books is called my grandpa and I. It talks about all of the fun things that the little boy is able to do with his grandpa. I think the reason that Jackson likes the book so much is that fully understands the close relationship that a grandpa can have with his grandson. He knows that his grandpa loves him and he knows that he can always count on his grandpa to play with him whenever and whatever he wants to play. So many times when I ask Jackson what he wants to do he says," I want to go to grandpa grandpa's." I am glad that his grandpa has taken the time to get to know him and to be one of his best friends. I can't think of a better best friend for him to have.

Swinging

After many hours of pushing Jackson on the swing- he doesn't need me anymore. He can pump himself now. He does such a good job- he leans way back and points his feet up in the air. He is really proud of himself and he loves to swing next to a bigger kid who is also pumping.
I think that yesterday he pumped himself on the swing for over an hour. It is both good and bad that he can pump himself. Good because he doesn't need me to do it, and bad because he doesn't need me to do it. I am glad that he is learning and growing... but he only gets to grow up once, and it is happening too fast.

Rice cereal

Benton ate his first rice cereal tonight. The good news is that it didn't make him cry. But, he didn't seem to like it all that much either. His reaction to the rice cereal was just like his personality- just okay and happy with whatever. I tease Mo that I think he gets that from me. Of course Jackson wanted to watch and help feed the baby. He is such a good helper. He loves his brother, and Benton loves him. The first thing that Jackson wants to do when he wakes up is to say hi to his brother. He loves to crawl into Benton's crib with him so that they can watch the airplane mobile together. They couldn't be happier as brothers.

Food Storage...

Well, I finally did it- Mom you should be so proud- I bought our first food storage items. Mo and I have been talking about getting a food storage for so long but it just hasn't happened. We now have a big stash of corn, green beans, cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup. I know that it is a small start but at least it is a start, and everyone needs to start somewhere right?

No more diapers for Jackson...

We are so excited- Jackson is officially potty trained. We let him sleep in underwear last night and he made it through the night without wetting the bed. What a great moment to wake up and have him dry. He was also really excited because he got to choose a really cool pirate car.
He has been really easy to train. Actually, I think it was Mo and I who needed to be potty trained. Jackson hasn't really had any accidents since his 3rd day in underwear. My advice to any of you future potty trainers- wait until they are ready, and then help them come up with something very important that they want to do and tell them they have to be potty trained first. We told Jackson he couldn't go to school unless he was potty trained and when he had his last accident I had him watch and listen to me make a phone call to his teacher to tell her that Jackson wouldn't be able to go to school. It made him very upset but he hasn't had an accident since. After a couple of days I called his teacher back to tell her that he could come to school now and Jackson and I celebrated together. I can't believe that he is going to be three soon... it seems like it was just yesterday when we brought him home from the hospital. He is growing up so fast. I am so glad that I have been able to spend most of my time home with him so that I haven't had to miss any of his growing up moments. He is my best little buddy and I love being with him- he is such a sweet boy, and he is so funny. It is fun to have him be able to communicate so well. He is really smart too! Last night Mo and I were playing in his room with him and we put the letters of his name up on his wall and asked him to choose different ones and he chose every letter that we asked him to correctly. He just came down stairs to sit on my lap and he says he wants me to write pootentain... his favorite word- thanks dad. Anyways...it is time for bed and stories. So goodnight.

First day of school

Well, Jackson started school today. I guess I can call it school even though it is just once a week for 1 hour. Which I wouldn't want him to go anymore than that because I love having him with me at home- he is so much fun. One of my friends in our ward organized it between 4 of us so that the kids just rotate to each of our houses once a month. Jackson was so cute this morning as he got ready. He even brushed his teeth with no trouble. He picked out a Diego backpack that he could take to school last night. He was sold on the Diego because it had rollers and a water bottle. We don't know why he was so hyped about a roller backpack- I guess kids really do pick up on the commercials. Anyways... he loved school. He made a picture of his name, decorated a boy paper doll(the lesson was special me), and made a little boy sugar cookie. I guess it is my turn next week. In the second picture Jackson is upset because he didn't get to stand by Jack.

I have been a blogger slacker...

Benton...
Benton is officially 3 months old, and he couldn't be funner. He is the epitomy of a great baby. He hardly ever cries- unless he is really hungry or really tired. He is sleeping 9 or 10 hours in the night. He is on a perfect eat nap schedule during the day. He is really cuddly. And, he spends all of his awake time smiling and cooing.
Also, Benton might have a chance of not being small- despite the size of his parents. He has outgrown most of his 0-3 month clothes already and he is ready to move up in diaper size. He is also really strong and is already rolling over by himself.
Some of his favorite things are playing on his play mat, being sung to, and taking baths in the big tub with Jackson.
Jackson...
Jackson has been doing a lot of growing up this past couple of weeks. It actually makes me sad to realize that he is starting to be my little boy now, and not my baby. He is doing so great at potty training. In fact, he hasn't really been having any accidents as long as Mo and I can remember to remind him to use the potty.
He is in a big boy bed now. He loves his bed but he does not nap or sleep in it very well yet. I was really worried that when I put him in a big boy bed that he wouldn't take his nap anymore and I guess I was right. Hopefully putting him to bed earlier at night will help make up for his lack of sleep in the day. Jackson definitely needs his sleep(just like his aunt sha).
Jackson got his first big boy bike- which he absolutely loves because now he can ride bikes with the boys(Mathew, David, and Jacob). And, he said he can do wheelies like his daddy does.
